2024 - Thanks!

A massive thank you from me to everyone who made my work in 2024 enjoyable and meaningful. Every record I mastered holds a special place in my heart and I mean that sincerely. I feel honoured and proud to have helped manifest such a huge amount of excellent new music for the world to enjoy, some future classics among them no doubt. I’m not precious or snobby about how anyone listens to music, but the thought of some of these records being passed down generations in the way that my Beatles and King Crimson and Joni Mitchell and Beach Boys records were passed down to me, shaping my life in ways that only became clear many years later, is a perpetual source of joy. Here’s to many more in 2025!

Alpha Male Tea Party - ‘Droids’ Anniversary Remaster

I was recently asked by UK math-rock legends Alpha Male Tea Party if I’d be interested in remastering their classic second album ‘Droids’ for a 10 Year Anniversary Reissue, as the vinyl had been out of print for many years and they thought it’d be fitting to give it a bit of a polish up in time for it’s birthday. It was an honour to be involved in this project, Tom Peters, producer of the album and AMTP’s guitarist, sourced the original mixes and we sat down for the day and worked together on making everything sound as fantastic as it possibly could. The results sound so good, and I’m really proud to have contributed to the legacy of such a brilliant album. Order it HERE from Big Scary Monsters.

Real World Studios - Masterclass

A few weeks back myself and Weird Jungle cohort Katie Tavini spent the day at the legendary Real World Studios delivering a series of Mastering Masterclasses as part of their first ever Masterclass Weekend.

It was a genuine honour to have been asked to come and speak at such an incredible event in what is without a doubt the most beautiful studio setting I’ve ever been in, and to get to speak to so many fantastic people and share so much knowledge and experience.

I can’t thank the Real World team enough for not only asking us to be a part of this very special event, but also for their unwavering support, professionalism and enthusiasm the entire time we were there. A truly magical place!

Gearfest 2024 - Sound On Sound panel

I spent a fantastic afternoon at Tileyard in London a couple of weeks back at Gearfest UK, having a look around and listening to loads of awesome sounding equipment and catching up with loads of audio folk who, like me, rarely make it out of their studios into the sunlight!

The highlight was being asked to speak on a Sound On Sound panel again, this time around the impact of parenthood on studio careers alongside Isabel Gracefield, James Rand and Sofia Hultquist, which was hosted by Weird Jungle’s Brendon Harding. It was a fascinating and important talk and I felt very honoured to have been asked to speak alongside such awesome and insightful people!

Working Class Audio Podcast

I was recently honoured to be asked back on to the excellent Working Class Audio podcast, after first chatting with Matt back in 2022. We had a really cool conversation about Weird Jungle, some mastering chat, and some thoughts on music and what role mastering plays in the current musical climate.
